ANNOUNCING THE THIRD COUCH FEST FILM FESTIVAL 2010

The Seattle film festival, to be held Sunday, November 7, 2010, invites movie lovers into private homes to enjoy several programs of short films in an intimate, unassuming environment. Seattle, WA. Couch Fest Films proudly announces the 3rd annual Couch Fest Film Festival, to be held November 7th, 2010 in residential homes around Seattle. Couch Fest Films is a traveling festival of sorts: moviegoers enjoy several programs of short films presented in Seattle residents' living rooms. The festival aims to build kinship among movie lovers in a comfortable and cozy setting, and to share exciting new works of short film with the Seattle area. The festival, founded in 2008, has built a passionate following in the city thanks to its reliably high quality, entertaining film programs, and its open-minded "do it yourself" ethic.

On Sunday, November 7th, 2010, each host home participating in Couch Fest Films will present a unique program of short movies that play 12pm-6pm, on the hour. Festivalgoers are welcome to visit all or as many of the homes as they like. The houses will be conveniently located near each other to encourage walking and biking, and allow the curious to sample several programs during the day. A short intermission in the middle of each program will allow viewers to discuss the films and socialize. Participants will have the opportunity to interact, share and discover new films and fellow lovers of film.

The 2010 Call for Entries was announced last week, with a deadline of October 1, 2010. The festival programmers look forward to another year of submissions as impressive as last year, which attracted work from Israel, Germany and Portugal, among other countries, and included genres that varied from social documentaries to sketch comedies, celebrated works of animation to emerging experimental video art.

Couch Fest Films was founded by Seattle filmmaker Craig Downing in 2008 with the goal of sharing the love of film and video in an unpretentious environment. Though Downing is on sabbatical this year, currently traveling in South America, a new team of programmers, Ryan Anne Davis and Nicole Southwell, looks forward to continuing his vision. This year's festival, while slightly smaller than last year, with fewer venues and film programs, will be just as exciting and enjoyable in its film selection and attitude.

Changes this year include a potluck dinner during the closing night party and an earlier closing night awards ceremony at 7pm, designed to encourage more festivalgoers to attend after the final 6pm program of films. Ticket prices have also been lowered to just $5 for the entire day.

For more information about Couch Fest, visit www.couchfestfilms.com. A full listing of films included in the various programs, as well as a venue map, will be listed on the website on October 30th.

Promotional stills will be available at http://www.couchfestfilms.com/press.htm. Please email ryan@couchfestfilms.com with any questions, or if you'd like to speak with festival founder Craig Downing, or programmers Ryan Anne Davis or Nicole Southwell.
